The news coming out of Puerto Rico regarding lightweight contender Felix Verdejo is troubling. According to various news sources, Verdejo is a “person of interest” in the disappearance and death of a 27-year-old woman and is not cooperating with the authorities.

The decedent is Keishla Marlen Rodriguez. Her body was fished from a lagoon. Her body was reportedly mangled beyond recognition. Forensic experts were able to identify her by dental records.

According to Rodriguez’s family members, she was pregnant with Verdejo’s child. (Verdejo is married.)

As more information has come to light, it is now being reported that Rodriguez’s last known location prior to her Wednesday disappearance was at Verdejo’s home. Moreover, it has been written that the police have cell phone records that show multiple calls between Verdejo and Rodriguez on the day she disappeared.

According to Lance Pugmire of The Athletic, the police believe that the woman was thrown into the lagoon from a bridge. The authorities have purportedly confiscated two vehicles on Verdejo’s property.

Verdejo represented Puerto Rico in the 2012 London Olympics where he lost to Vasiliy Lomachenko in the quarterfinals. Promoted by Top Rank, he is 27-2 as a pro. In his most recent fight, he was upset by Masayoshi Nakatani who stopped him in the ninth round at the MGM Bubble in Las Vegas.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned.

      If true, inhuman behavior.

The intentional killing of an unborn child.

    That’s such an interesting charge.

Several years ago Floyd Mayweather Jr. publicly shamed his X for having an abortion and killing his unborn twins without his knowledge or consent. I don’t recall that woman facing murder charges when in fact that’s exactly what she committed when she killed Floyd’s children. Every abortion is the intentional killing of an unborn child. And so good on Floyd for calling it out.
