I know its been quite some time since I have been on the forum. But still following the sport as closely as ever and reading the articles on this site.
Recently I have been going back watching old fights. Well when I say old mean primarily from the 80's and 90's. I started working out more and well found myself needing to watch something on the Ipad while doing so. And when I have down time when watching twin toddlers (which isn't often) I try to pull up YouTube to catch something I may have missed or forgotten about.
Today's workout bout was Felix Trinidad-Oba Carr. This took place in 1994 on the undercard of Julio Cesar Chavez-Tony Lopez (some really great fights on this show by the way).
Something I forgot was both Trinidad and Carr were undefeated and under 23 years of age. We unfortunately don't see these type of fights much in the sport nowadays.
Trinidad was dropped in the second by a hard right from Carr. While I wouldn't say that woke Trinidad up he did bounce right up and did not appear hurt. As a matter of fact he seemed to gain confidence that he could take Carr's best.
Rounds three thru seven were similar with Trinidad walking Carr down landing sharp punches with Carr occasionally sticking the left jab in Trinidad's face. On a few occasions Carr stood his ground with Trinidad but got the worst of the exchanges.
In the eight Trnidad started attacking Carr's body which dropped the hands of Carr and left his head wide open. Trinidad capitized scoring two knockdowns and eventually stopping Carr on his feet.
Really enjoyed looking back on this one and highly recommend the watch to anyone who has not yet seen the fight.
