Mayweather-McGregor: What Everybody Has Overlooked

If Mayweather is close to being one of the greats, he'll mutilate McGregor tonight! That's what he's supposed to do to a guy making his pro-debut. This should look like Mayweather-Gatti only shorter?

Script or competition? We will know tonight. We all know what should happen 100/100 times if this was just a pure boxing contest but thre is something else bigger going on here.....

Nice article. Great points. 49-0 is still 49 and 0. Smart fight management or not he still fought good boxers, boxers that were better than McGregor. I expect Mcgregor to come out like a bull in a china shop and for Mayweather to slow the pace down as quickly as possible. After the pace slows and Mayweather makes McGregor miss and start to gas, Mayweather will pick him apart. Mcgregor is younger and bigger but Floyd has been doing this for 30 plus years. Floyd will be able to analyze, bait and beat him. I think the experience of Floyd will over shadow youth and size. Not for nothing, but for 40, Floyd looks damn good.

What if heading into round 7, Conor has landed two punches only, both low blows and in the 7th he lands a third low blow and Money kicks him and the ring is flooded...... you buying it again in May?

I think McGregor would be making a big mistake going at Mayweather like a bull in a china shop. That'd make it easy work for Mayweather.

You watched it then? I caught a nice Mork and Mindy marathon. Kudos to kirktorn, called it right down the line as well.

Can't say I got any Mork and Mindy - more like the Wiggles with my kids.

I didn't watch the fight. I've seen a few of Mayweather's previous bouts and none of McGregor's. I hadn't heard McG talk until last night someone posted footage of his post-fight talk on Facebook. Must say he was a more gracious loser than I expected.

One thing that struck me is McGregor mentioned several times he was prone to fatigue around the halfway point. He wants to figure out why. I have no idea what kind of training he underwent for this match - could it be he was lacking the very thing old-school coaches taught as fundamental?

He had conditioning issues in MMA as well, his first fight with Nick Diaz. In the rematch he improved and managed the fight better sohe won. With that said the MMA conditioning is completely different. Mayweather, as great as his condition is, would be gassed out in about 10 minutes of ground fighting. It is just different.
