Happy Birthday and Condolences To Marlon Starling

It's Magic Man Marlon Starling's 59th birthday today and the former undisputed welterweight champ of the whole wide world is going through a very difficult time right now. Let's show him some love. I just got off the phone with him and I know he needs it in a big way. Last week, Marlon lost his older brother Issac Starling. Coming from a large family, Issac was the first of the Starling siblings to pass away. Issac was 59 years old and just 11 months older than Marlon. From what I was told, Issac fell, injuring his head and hip. During the medical procedure, Issac lost oxygen to his brain and passed away. May he rest in peace.

If you want to show love, attend the Ring 10 Banquet because Marlon will be there.

He is such a nice guy. I have had the chance to meet him the last three years in Canastota. Always willing to engage with the fans. My condolences go out to him and his family.

Quick story too on what a nice guy he is...This year when I talked with him, I mentioned that I had recently watched his first fight with Mark Breland. A big smile came on Starling's face when I mentioned the fight and he said could you tell he broker my nose in the first round. I said no and then Marlon replied he did but I broke him down in the end. He then paused, almost a bit regretful in what he said. And then went on to tell me what a great guy and great friend of his Breland has become of his. Marlon then spent a little more time praising the person in Breland and how much he admires him and is thankful to have become his friend outside the ring.

One of my favorite photos being lifted up by Marlon and Mark.
